The cooking method of choice in Argentina is, without a doubt, grilling. This style of cooking is derived from the original Argentinian cowboy (Gaucho) tradition of cooking fresh meats over charcoal grills. If there is a single food that can represent Argentina, it is beef. Argentina produces some of the best beef in the world.
Argentines eat it with everything, food without Chimichurri just wouldn't be tolerated in Argentina especially grilled meat which is the mainstay of Argentine cuisine. The barbecue or parilla is the national dish and even has restaurants called parillas that sell nothing but a choice of barbequed foods.
If you're travelling in Argentina (Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego) and hoping to eat out - you'll find a wide variety of places for snacks and meals as Argentinians enjoy eating out. As in many countries, restaurants open late and it's not uncommon for people to still be dining at 11pm in the evening (restaurants often don't open until after 8pm!)
If you prefer other cuisines, you'll find a range of restaurants in the major cities offering traditional Thai and Japanese cuisine.
